The Wild Country Open - Disc Golf Tournament
We had a great day considering the weather was brutal looking in the morning. Will and Craig called me up and said what should we do. On with the show I say and things went very well.
We had 19 brave souls come out to a freshly soggy PJ Irvin Park for some quality throwing. By tee time the clouds parted and the pressure cooker was on.
Round one had Joshua Weddle throwing a nice looking -6 to lead all throwers from the Intermediate division. With a smaller group the round was quick and we got back to it after a short break. Round two featured 4 CTP's for each of three contested division. (Thank you Wild Country!!) Both Jonah Ortiz and Noah Brooks played up from advanced to fill out the open field. Round two hot round was turned in by myself with a -9 in winning the Open division. Had to get that great Jonah Ortiz designed trophy.
Some thank you time is needed: Will Phillips & Craig Houchin for organizing and putting this event together. Well done gentlemen.
Wild Country - Thank you for getting involved in disc golf in this area. The CTP's were sweet discs and much appreciated. (Please visit our sponsor online and in town for your outdoor sporting goods needs and disc golf merchandise.)
Also thank you to Bloomington Parks and Recreation. We love PJ Irvin course and appreciate the work put in to keep it in great shape.
Ok, I'll get to it already. Results are posted here!!
Also note that $110 was raised for the BNDGC (Bloomington Normal Disc Golf Club) through $5 of each entry as well as independent donations by both "Up"Chuck Wallis & Joshua Weddle, thank you guys. Tanner Frey also purchased a club membership today.
If any one wants to see one of the Jonah Ortiz created trophies, I've put a link up on my blog. Sweet trophy that is now sitting on my shelf. Open Trophy

We have photos courtesy of Jack Kaufman. A long time friend to the disc golf community Jack, spent his afternoon with us on the course taking photos and spotting a few shots. Jack is one of the nicest guys to throw a round with (or run a round if you prefer) and he was gracious enough to email photos to the site and offer them up for viewing. I've placed them on a Flickr site that we'll use as a photo album. Thanks again Jack, we all appreciate the support. Click Here

B/N Open Forum Contest Winner
October 15, 2007
The winner of the forum contest was David Barish. Not knowing the courses very well proved to be a winner as David was within 6 total strokes of the actual numbers for the hot rounds on PJ Irvin & Maxwell as well as the total score for the winners in Open, Advanced, and Intermediate. David won a DX TeeRex, Star Aviar, a Blunt cap, and a few swag items. Congratulations and thanks to everyone that played.

Thanks to Brett Comincioli B/N had it's first sanctioned tourney two weeks ago. According to the figures 78 atheletes competed in several divisions. Results are available on the PDGA website at the following link. Results Link Many would agree that the tourney was a great success and it's the hope of local players to be able to learn from the efficienty Brett was able to bring to the process and continue to build local support for disc golf and make sure that the B/N Open becomes a standing tradition. Thanks again Brett for your hard work and personal sacrifice.

bndisc has been created to serve the local need for a central disc golf information site for Bloomington-Normal area disc golfers. Bloomington-Normal features two 18 holes courses at Maxwell Park and PJ Irvin Park. Several area courses are also within 30 minutes drive and can be found using the PDGA course directory. PDGA course search. Maxwell provides a more open throwing experience with less tree cover. PJ Irvin is also very playable, but often features more challenging tree lined shots. Both parks are very well maintained by the local parks service.
