Hey,
I didn't mean to make you mad, man. There's a lot of little things that I look at when I'm reviewing a course, and LPN just didn't have many of them. If I'm in the area when the tees are in and everything is in place, I'll definitely play through it again and reevaluate it. I also felt that navigation was a little tricky, but when you have tee signs and everything, that will, of course, help.
I gave it a passable rating because in my mind nothing really stood out with this course as "awesome". I just don't think that the land has enough interesting features to make it a world famous course. But, as I said in the review, I'm glad that this land is being used for disc golf and could provide an excellent supplement to the south side.
I understand that you put a lot of time into this course and I think it's awesome that you're trying to spread disc golf, so I definitely didn't mean to hurt your feelings or anything.
But like another member said, you write your own review to balance out mine. I feel like my reviews are pretty objective for the most part (and they're distributed pretty normally too). If anything, you could take some of my criticism and use it to improve the course. Not to mention, since it's an unfinished course as of now, it really can't merit a 4 or better rating anyway.

And as for Pekin, it's not that I don't like throwing long holes, I just came back from a road trip to Idlewild which has a 1001 foot hole that I completely loved. My main complaint with 17 and 18 is that they seem kind of apart from the park, and that you basically have to cross 18's fairway to get to 17's tee. I still gave Pekin a "very good" rating.

In fact, I think long drives from the tee are my favorite aspect of disc golf, I love ripping my Riot and watching it fly.

Dude... you can think what you want about a course... but it should be logical. That is the biggest problem with your review.

Sebastian,

How many holes on that course did you play? Be honest. I bet you didn't play more than 2.

How do you rate a course when you played 2 holes?

You didn't even make it to number 6 - how did you play the towering pines? Did you shoot over the fountain or from the Lincoln Park sign on 5th St? Do you even know what sign I am talking about?

How did you like the hole from the softball field across the dip to and behind the white burch? It plays 620'... you reach that with your single disc?

Or how about the blind uphill over the "old 12 and under" ball diamond that the pin is tucked behind another White Burch tree?

What did you think of the pin placement on #15 after driving the entire distance of the top of the park? Did the elevation changes effect you lie... did your drive land in the down hill part of the hole, the flat part, or the uphill part?

How did you like that blind downhill to the corner of the park for #16? Most folks throw an orc-like disc on that one... what disc did you grab?

And 18? The 505' finishing hole which of the three lines did you take through the trees?

"If anything, you could take some of my criticism and use it to improve the course." ???

What criticism will aid me in my improvement of this course?

Did you go back and play 1, 2, and 3?

---

As for your review, what part should I use for the constructive criticism?

"It's not very interesting..."
"I wouldn't recommend it. :("
"it's not worth checking out, even if you're in the area and just played the South side"
"I only used one disc the whole time and just kind of carelessly threw it..."

"Hopefully when it's finished, I'll get to play it again and add a few points to the rating. :"

I have a suggestion for you before you trash a course... why don't you play it the first time...

What did you change? Added emiticons? What are you 7? Why don't you remove the rating until you play the course.

Jwt, I played the course for what it was when I played it, not what it will be when it's done. When it's complete and I'm in the area, I'll play it again and reevaluate. If you need a guide to tell you where you should be going the entire time because there aren't tee signs or tees, I can't give it higher ratings yet.
I tried my best to play through it from 4 to 18 and I probably "played" 9 or 10 holes to get an idea of the park and, based on my experience, gave it a rating.
My review only changed the average by half a point and Ziggy's review already counteracted that.
I'm honestly not trying to provoke you in anyway, just sharing my honest opinion.

wow. I guess it isn't your fault you are incapable of envisioning a finished product when standing directly on a natural tee looking towards the basket. My apologies.

Man, you guys are overreacting, big time. It's a review, based on his OPINION. He came on the site and apologized to you. Just drop it. He can think and say what he wants, whether its "logical" or not. With time, if the course is a good one, the reviews will reflect it. All who have played it, get on there and tell others what you thought.

I'm sure if someone as enthusiastic about frolf as Trotter put the course together, it's the best course configuration on the land.

My $.02
If I am going to give my opinion about a disc golf course, and post in on a public forum, which other disc golfers are going to use to make decision as to travel plans and playing that course I would do the following.
A. get information about the course, is there a map? are there locals who will play the course with me? give me any info about the course?
B. take my full bag of discs to throw the best line the hole offers
C. play all the holes.
Then
D. provide the best possible review of the course based on all the above circumstances.
Anything less would be, in my opinion, dishonest to myself and anyone reading my reveiw.

Sam

ElementZ's review should have been short. "I only played a part of the course and did not bring my whole bag. The course has not been ompleted. I will rate/rank the course when it is done and I can seriously play the whole layout."

Ultimately he should have just refrained from even reviewing and ranking it.

The same thing happen to Forrest the day it went into the ground.
ElementZ Please due others that will see your review a favor. Rate the thing WHEN ITS DONE. Like someone said get the straight skinny from the locals/ designers. There may be issues why the course can't be finished yet.
Sorry but it did piss me off when you reviewed Forrest when you did.
And Yes I know it is not finished yet, but we are waiting on the PnR dept. I due want the chance to show the course some time and get a one on one review.
