sounds good, Everything sounds pretty straight forward and aside from collecting things from people I should have everything tomorrow. I did have a couple questions...
Dave O - Being the Scorecard guru and all, what paper should I use to print them on?, Computer paper seems like it might be too flimsy. Is there a way I could just give you $$$ and you give me the all the cards for a couple weeks or am i better off going to kinkos?
Ben - What do you think about modifying the challenges for the divisions? ex. intermediate is allowed to get a couple bogeys and is required to get less birdies. I could be missing the point here but I want newer players to get to challenge themselves with realistic goals. Mid ranges at Maxwell in ~20mph winds is scary, or is scary the point? just a thought.

My concern with the challenges is that we don't know what to set the level at for each person.
To many winners and it looses money without a pocket to take the money out of...and BN Open ends up without any donated money.
This trial run may be a complete bomb after 1 or 2 attempts. Now if we prove we can manage it at the highest level then I think opening up a level of challenges to other divisions is reasonable.
Player consistency becomes the biggest question of where to set things. Do you use a value requirement that the person has achieved 1 time in their life or never, etc... I'm as curious as anyone else how this is going to work. Tonight's is a stab in the dark at a whole new format idea. I'll be attempting the challenge tonight to find out, but won't be paying myself out due to the conflict of interest it presents. (Me setting the values and then setting out to achieve them.)
It's possible also the challenge circuit should run as a points based endeavor over a series of weeks and then pay out money for a body of work. All questions that are tough to answer...

Dan Z,
I just bought a new package of card stock to do score cards, so I am more than happy to print out cards for league.
Ben,
I appreciate the new format, and also the time and tweaking it takes to make it a good one. This first one is a really hard one for a high level player, and it would be pretty close to impossible for me. I did consider it though, because I think of all of the holes at Maxwell, and if I played them carefully, and if I had two amazing throws with my mako on #11 and a great putt I could maybe do it. Don't worry about making the challenge doable by everyone, that isn't the point.
Dear Disc, Please go where I want you to go, Not where I threw you. Sincerely, DaveO PDGA-# 33544 |

| Good job, Ben. I like the creativity and the unpredictability of the whole thing. Let's see what happens. I would just say make sure the challenge stuff is easy to understand so before every hole or every throw things do not need to be continually clarified, etc. |

Great league night! You did a good job Dan! I know how tough it is to run a smooth league. My first night & the night we had 29 people at Maxwell did not go very smoothly, so expect some speed bumps. Havign Ben,. Dave-O, Sam & I will be ther to have yoru back. I will look forward to playing next week!
Ben's challenge was very tough, but I enjoyed it a lot. I may have to try it out some other time just to see if I can get it. Practice round was -7 with a muligan on my second shot in 11, -5 with 2 bogeys during league. I know I can get a -9 with no bogeys. I'll let you know when it happens. I also enjoyed learning how to throw a 360 shot. I think I will add that to my list of shots to learn, right after I learn a consistent flick drive this summer.

Wow, that was fun. I hope everyone got home safe and that the call to clear the course allowed everyone to get to a vehicle safely. I called my wife while on hole 6 and figured we'd have enough time to finish the round. Storm was moving a lot faster than estimated though that's for sure.
All rounds will be called off and money returned or credited for next week. I have the below...
All owed $5 unless noted.
Sam Ball Dan Nagle Ben Douglas (Paid) Spencer Wilken Joshua Weddle Dan Zehr (Paid by brother.) Matt Corrie Mike Cellini Dave Owens (Paid to Ben for other debt.) Mark Bailey Tim Zehr (Owe $10, paid for Dan) Tyler Mcternen Bob Corrie Zach Switzer Mark Harston Joe Comiciolli Clint Reiter Tom Reiter (paid by Judy) Judy Reiter ($8 owed, paid for Tom) Tim Cerven ($4 owed)
I know either J-Man or Mark Bailey told me to keep their $5 in partial payment for a Money putter, but I forgot who in the rush to keep the club cash dry. We'll sort those out next week or on the forum.

I didn't like ending my round early, but you made the right call, Ben. You handled that situation well.

I won't be at league next week but I should be at putting league tomorrow, so I can take my refund there or just take the credit the week after next...whichever is easier.
By the way Dave, my Firebird was found by Spencer. Apparently is laying out in the middle of the fairway. I swear I saw it go screaming into the bushes. Perhaps it hit the ground just before and rolled back around.

I believe that would be Mark. I paid in full. You can just hang on to my $5 & have it go towards next weeks league play. Also, a deck of cards is back in my car for when we need them.
Good call on the weather as well. It was hard to leave with only a hole & a half left, but it was the best thing to do.

Like everyone else, it was the right thing to do last night. The wind howling and playing havoc with those last shots didn't provide a fair level of playing conditions plus if anyone was like me, I started rushing shots just to get done. (Excuses, not me ) I'm just glad we have caring people who watch out for everyone's safety. Won't be there next week. Prior commitment.
