2012 BNDisc Ace Race
Date: October 20, 2012 Time: - 8:00-9:30 AM - Check-in to get your player’s pack and warm-up
- 9:30 AM - Players meeting
- 10 AM - First round tee off
- 12 PM - Second Round Tee Off
- We will be taking orders for lunch during check-in and will have lunch delivered to the course so people can eat between the first and second rounds.
Where: PJ Irvin Park, Bloomington, IL
Divisions: Open and Amateur Prizes: - Open Division Winner will receive a prize package including several brand new Discraft discs and a Discraft bag.
- Amateur Division Winner will receive a prize package comprised of donated discs and other disc-golf merchandise (TBD)
- Prizes will also be awarded to the 2nd Place finishers in both Open and Amateur Divisions!
Player’s Pack: Each player will receive two 2012 prototype drivers, mini, sticker, premium water bottle and a pair of UV shades.
Cost: $25 (the items in the player’s pack are worth more than the entry fee!)
Pre-Registration: Pre-registration for this event is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED! We will be placing our order for Player’s Packs two weeks prior to the event, on October 6. We will likely order a SMALL number of extra player packs to accommodate late entries, but if you do not pre-register for the event, your spot is not guaranteed.
To pre-register, contact Judy Reiter via email at mommiojr@magnumtr.com or you can register in person with her at either Monday or Wednesday night leagues.
2012 Ace Race Disc information from Discraft: quote: The 2012 Ace Race prototype disc is officially classified as a long range driver, but it could be more accurately described as a hybrid driver and is superb for running aces! Faster than a Buzzz but slower than a Stalker, the disc offers players controlled fairway shots. At medium to fast speeds this disc will hold the line to finish with a slight hyzer.

Discraft provides two new prototype discs for the ace race. You only use these discs during the tournament.
Each hole you get one throw. Your goals are aces or metal hits. Person with the most aces wins, metal hits are tie breakers. You'll throw 18 times in the first round and 18 times in the second round. No more, no less. Throw, pick up your disc, go to the next hole. No putts, no upshots, just ace runs.
Holes use shorter teepads to drive up the chances of aces.

I've thrown the ace race disc a little bit. Discraft's description of it seems pretty accurate. A little understable, will fade like a Buzzz. |

The ace race you only get to throw the 2 discs you get when you arrive. In addition you only are taking a crack at the basket, no putting. Winner will have the most aces and metal hits
last year we were allowed to throw both discs to double our chances
Lots of fun and easy for all. Last year I had 2 metal hits in the first round, and nothing the second. |

| Someone needs to convince Tom Schenk to play up. The Open division isn't exactly stacked right now, and if tom beats my 11 year old daughter in the Amateur division, she will cry. |

Yeah, I was there too. In fact Schenk and I tied last night. Is there any chance Jessica could move up?

LOL! Although it is true that my daughter can probably outdrive all of you, I do believe that she needs to stay in the Amateur division for now. I believe it's Standard Operating Procedure to remain in the Amateur division as long as possible to hone your game before moving up to the big leagues. However, after she wins this year, I will encourage her to play Open next year. |

Reminder people!
We need to order player packs tomorrow. (Oct 6th) So if you are thinking about playing in the ace race, either post here or send me an email (MommioJR@MagnumTR.com).
We will only be ordering a limited supply of extra packs, so if you want to be sure to get a player's pack, please let us know!
If you have never played an ace race before, it is a lot of fun! It also goes quick, so if you have commitments later in the day, you shouldn't have any conflicts in time.

I will be there!
Since Sam won't be there to defend his 1x title I will be there to defend my 3x title. I will try to make it 4x, but I know there will be some awesome competition again this year.
