When: September 5th, 2009 – 10:00 AM --- I will have the course laid out and player packs ready by 8:30 AM so that you can go out and practice. Where: Maxwell Park, Normal, IL Register by: August 22, 2009 (See Post below for how to register) --- There will be a set amount of Late registration entries taken depending on how many people pre-register. Once the Player packs run out I will put you on a waiting list (Minimum order is 10.Unless I can find smaller amounts from TD's that have some left over.) Cost: $25.00 -- Bloomington Normal Disc Golf Bag Tag holders will get $2.00 off. -- Women get $2.00 off. (if you are a Bloomington-Normal Member that would be $4 total) -- Late entries ADD $2.00 -- -- -- When I order the Player Packs, I will order a certain amount of extra player packs for people who need to wait to register.
What is an Ace-Race? http://discgolfacerace.com/
What Everyone gets: --2 identical prototype Discraft Discs. --1 really cool Discraft hat. --1 Full color mini disc from Discraft. -- -- -- Discraft says this is a $55 value -- Two rounds of Ace Race fun -- -- -- DaveO Says the value of this is Priceless.
What the Winner Gets: -- A discraft Bag -- 10 Premium Discraft Discs -- The right to brag and talk smack for as long as your friends care to listen. (usually about 2 or 3 minutes) After that, the size of your group of friends may start shrinking.
The profits from this Ace-Race tournament will go toward Course improvements at Maxwell Disc-golf course. You can vote for the improvement that you would prefer to see implemented. (Improvements are subject to Normal Parks and Rec. Dept approval and cost.) ____________________________________________
The course will be set up so that all of the tees are between 100 and 200and 170 feet. From the basket. I played in Effingham's Ace Race, and they putter is a little on the slow side for some arms to get it all the way out to 200 feet. -- I want everyone to have some chances to get an ace. There will be at Least 20 baskets out, and I’m going to try to get at least 3 more baskets, but 5 more baskets would be great. -- The course will be ready by 8:30 AM that day so that you can get your discs and go practice. _________________________________________________ ATTENTION!!! Em'ly has promised to bake! She is going to sell some baked goods at reasonable prices to help make money to improve Maxwell. I'm also thinking that 2nd place and third place would get a prize of baked goods. (Noah will probably shoot for second, because he'd rather have baked goods than discs.) I’m planning to have another semi casual tournament after the Ace-Race. -- Format and start time to be determined.

Posted - 09/06/2009 : 18:41:05 Thanks for the vote of confidence. I was surprised I won, seriously! I hit metal a couple times before the rounds started and I only had two metal hits during the first round. The second round was when I threw two aces and two more metal hits. I will be back to defend my title next year, but I am betting someone else will be the lucky person to win next year. It was a lot of fun and I will look forward to seeing everyone out on the course again soon.

Posted - 09/05/2009 : 15:24:38 Dana, when you make a bet like that, the payout is usually VERY low because the odds are so high.
J-man won again. Snore... MOVE UP!!! |

Posted - 09/04/2009 : 10:32:00 Thanks Sam, I remembered I had an ace, I didn't remember I hit that much metal.....Speaking of, I played forest yesterday and I hit #3 from the short "A", tons of chains and it hit the pole too solidly and bounce strait back about 5 feet.
I have to be at work at 5. I may still play a round at forest or PJ with you guys though.

Posted - 09/03/2009 : 17:23:49 I'm guessing we should be done by 1:00 pm at the latest. I'm suggesting 2 dollar doubles afterward though.

Posted - 09/03/2009 : 13:53:21 DaveO,
If we start at 10am, about what time do you think we will get done?
Just trying to get a rough idea when we'll finish up.
Thanks!

Posted - 09/03/2009 : 10:36:20 I think Sam is right - I know I had an ace and one or two metal hits and I remember that you beat me by one or two points. |

Posted - 09/03/2009 : 07:32:00 J-Man, I thought you had 3 metal hits in the first round and I had 2. Then in the second round we each had a ace and a metal and you beat me 7 to 6. But I am not sure. I know you beat me by one, and I know we each had an ace in the second round. It is the metal hits that I am not sure about.
